Navy Announces New Uniform
MILLINGTON, TN – In a surprising mid-week announcement, we learned that US Navy sailors will have a temporary new uniform next month. Taking a note from major sporting teams, the Navy will debut a version of Naval Working Uniform (NWU) with pink camouflage to honor Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October.
“We’re testing the release this year to see how it will be received before making the color mandatory in the future,” said Commander Eric Davis, a spokesperson for the Naval Personnel Command. “Based on how this October goes, we will experiment with a pink version of shipboard coveralls also,” he added.
The uniforms will be available in limited supply in brick and mortar stores, so sailors are encouraged to order theirs online as soon as possible to ensure they meet the regulation come October 1. The pink tinted camouflage will not be issued to any incoming sailors in boot camp and sailors are expected to use their annual uniform allowance to front the cost.
“We’re excited to see how much our sailors like the chance to honor Breast Cancer Awareness in a way similar to their favorite athletes,” CDR Davis said.
