001 - “FIRST DAY”

25JAN2020 - I like to think that everyone joins the Navy with at least a little bit of hoo-yah in their blood. Some people get disillusioned quicker than others. It might only take you stepping off the bus into the great halls of Recruit Training Command Great Lakes to realize what kind of rocky road you’ve set yourself upon. Hell, some lucky few even manage to go their entire contract without losing that infatuation with the sea-faring service.

However, it’s hard to keep that same sense of wonder once you report aboard your ship for the first time. The nuclear ships of the fleet are built to last- but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their problems. We take these incredible machines out for months at a time and put them through their paces. They can’t help but come back with a few… minor propulsion plant deficiencies. It’s alright. As the ship builds character, so do you.
